The Jalapão state park has 159 thousand hectares, is a nature conservation and protection unit, located in the eastern region of the state of Tocantins, between the municipalities of Ponte Alta, Mateiros and São Félix do Tocantins.
The vegetation in the park is thin savannah and clean fields with paths.
Jalapão is an arid region dotted with oases, made up of lagoons, boiling places, rivers, dunes, waterfalls and mountains. One of the characteristics of Jalapão is the production of Capim Dourado and Buriti Silk handicrafts, made by the quilombola communities native to the place. Capim Dourado became the main source of income for the communities, bringing more development and sustenance to the place.
